Swatantra Yoga and our approach
Established by Yogi Kapil Shri in 2013 in Maheshwar, Swatantra Yoga was born on the sacred banks of India's oldest river, Narmada. Maheshwar, as well as the holy Narmada's valley have been known as the cradle of sacred pilgrimage, determined yoga practice, meditation, mantric and tantric arts. This place holds a particular energy, permeable to healing, awakening and transformation. It is our primary mission at Swatantra, to hold space for you to go deep within, and tap into the essence of your true nature.
Swatantra Yoga is dedicated to guiding individuals on their spiritual path towards self-transformation. Yoga is beyond pure physical exercise, it's a way of life. We integrate traditional yogic practices into your daily routine, helping you find not only inner balance and harmony but to guide you to meet yourself. To free yourself from the veil of conditioning of the patterned mind. To experience the ultimate swa-tantra.
"You become so free that you yourself choose your bondage. You become Swa-tantra." - Swatantra Yoga

We feel strongly about the environemnt around us and try our best to be a part of the solution to protect it and see it flourish, locally. We are dedicated to preserving our precious river Narmada and the surrounding nature through our annual tree plantation initiatives and through our efforts to reduce the level of pollution. Our passionate efforts aim to contribute to the conservation of the environment and its biodiversity. Hence we organize environment awareness programs to educate and engage the local community, by raising awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship.
Our work spills way beyond a yoga mat...

Community inclusion
Nature preservation
At our yoga retreats, we are determined in supporting our local community. We achieve this by providing employment opportunities for our neighbours and talented women and men from the area, This plays a crucial role in enabling the local economy to thrive. Whenever possible, we collaborate with local talents and give them an opportunity to share their talents (e.g. young mehendi - henna artists) and services (body therapy; local taylor products) with our retreat participants. We likewise prioritize the use of locally sourced produce, further contributing to the growth of our community. Every helping hand, is highly valued and appreciated. We understand the importance of investing in our community, and through our commitment to supporting local businesses and individuals, It feels as if a big yogic family working toward one goal - to grow together.
We offer a free classes at our Rewananda art school for children and young people from economically deprived backgrounds, all from our neighbourhood. Our classes vary in the range of activities. Regular are yoga and meditation classes, English and free-style art classes. In the past we ran classical Indian dance classes and music lessons. Our main goal is to nurture and encourage the expressive and creative abilities of these young individuals, who often lack access to do so. We hope to empower these children and young people to express themselves creatively, fostering their personal spiritual growth and enhancing their overall well-being. Due to the regulations of the current educational system of India and post-pandemic, our classes primarily take place on weekends and run purely via donations from good hearted sponsors. Contact us if you feel drawn to become one such sponsor.
...we are also an NGO - REWANANDA and serve society via
